FlexTime · free and open source, MIT
Pay tracking for the trades that gets the math right.
Log your hours, overtime, double time, vacation deductions and per diem, then print a monthly report you can hand in. Made for apprentices and tradespeople.
The problem it solves
Most pay apps convert per diem to an hourly rate, and most calculate overtime on the gross rate. Both are wrong for a lot of trades work. Overtime belongs on your effective rate after deductions, and per diem is flat. FlexTime does it right: you set the rules, it does the math.
The math, done right
A 12-hour shift at $44.71 an hour, with a $5 an hour vacation deduction and $140 per diem:
- $44.71 − $5.00 vacation = $39.71 effective rate
- 8 hours straight time × $39.71 = $317.68
- 4 hours overtime at $59.57 (time and a half of $39.71) = $238.28
- $140.00 per diem, flat
- Total: $695.96

Why it exists
I saw someone on Reddit describing pay apps that get the math wrong for trades workers. I built FlexTime in an afternoon and gave it away. Now it's open source, so anyone can read the code, change it or fix it.
